Build a better Host. Find your next step.

Bonecaller Official Wiki

Bonecaller is a Slavic-folklore idle auto-battler about raising defeated enemies, shaping a six-hero Host, forging affinity apexes, and carrying permanent power through repeated descents.

Raise what you kill. Bind the dead. Forge apex heroes. Descend forever.

Start Here

  1. Read the Starting Guide for the first descent and the first Forge.
  2. Use the Progression Roadmap when a boss door stops you.
  3. Use Heroes, Affinities, and Teams to choose an affinity, roles, and a formation.
  4. Read Forge, Paragon, and Relics before sacrificing heroes or taking an L100 reset.
  5. Read Signs, Pantheon, and Weekly Bosses after the late-game systems open.

Current Edition

This wiki covers the current Windows PC edition of Bonecaller and was updated September 15, 2026. Later game updates may change individual values or unlocks.

Platforms And Purchases

Bonecaller is a single-player Windows PC game in English, designed as a one-time purchase. It has normal random gameplay drops, but no paid currency or paid random rewards. Visit the official Bonecaller website for current release and availability information.

Starting Guide

The First Descent

A new game begins at Floor 1 with Hollow Wraith, one Host slot, Sanctum L1, and no souls. Combat is automatic. Your decisions happen between fights: spend souls, set the Host, choose a safe Farm floor, and decide which heroes become Forge material.

The first three Death heroes join with the early slot unlocks:

Deepest floorHost capacityWhat changes
F11Hollow Wraith begins alone
F102Bone-Footed Skeleton joins and deploys
F203Bone Knight joins and deploys; three Death points activate lifesteal
F254A fourth formation slot opens
F1015A fifth slot opens after the first boss door
F3006The full Host opens

Souls And The Sanctum

Victories grant souls. Spend them in the Sanctum to bind individual heroes from L0 to L10. Binding raises HP, ATK, and DEF. L10 is the finished binding state and the requirement for heroes used in a Forge rite.

Early soul storage is intentionally limited. If the battle result says the soul cache is full, spend souls before continuing. The cap expands permanently after the first major gate.

Raising Heroes

Eligible enemies can leave a hero behind when defeated. The battle screen lists the heroes available on the current floor; Farm shows the exact selected-floor pool. Raises are rare, but eligible first copies build pressure toward a guaranteed result. Once a hero is already owned, another successful raise can become an Echo, up to three banked copies per hero, until that affinity has a 5-star apex.

Farm Or Descend

  • Descend advances after victories and builds descent momentum and Cache rewards.
  • Farm repeats a cleared safe floor for souls and that floor's hero pool.
  • Farm pauses descent momentum and cannot clear an uncleared boss door for you.
  • Offline simulation respects the selected mode.

Use Farm when the next boss asks for an affinity you have not finished, when several Forge pieces still need L10, or when your next push needs stable souls rather than another risky floor.

The First Forge

The Bone-Forge opens at F30. A rite uses one L10 target plus two L10 heroes of the same affinity and the same Forge tier. The target advances through 1-star, 3-star, and then the affinity's unique 5-star apex. The two sources are consumed.

Do not sacrifice the only formation that can clear your current Farm floor. A safe sequence is:

  1. Lock a floor your current Host clears reliably.
  2. Raise and bind spare heroes from the required affinity.
  3. Keep one working frontline while preparing three equal-tier pieces.
  4. Read the Forge preview and choose the resulting role deliberately.
  5. Rebuild the Host after the rite before resuming Descend.

If You Get Stuck

Check these in order:

  1. Next target: read the battle wall explanation and current floor drops.
  2. Host: put a Vanguard in front and protect Strikers or Seers in back.
  3. Sanctum: finish the heroes you are actually fielding.
  4. Affinity: farm the band that answers the next gate.
  5. Forge: complete the next equal-tier rite without dismantling your only viable team.
  6. Vault and Paragon: after F100 and your first apex, use relics, credits, and sockets instead of only repeating the same floor.

Progression And Boss Doors

Bonecaller uses floor bands. Each band adds a roster target, a boss door, or a permanent system. A wall is a build question: change the Host, strengthen the matching affinity, improve relics or Paragon, or return after another permanent reward.

Ascension Doors

The first three milestone rites teach the permanent prestige loop:

  • F100: The Root-Drowned Gate.
  • F200: Koschei the Deathless.
  • F300: Baba Yaga.

Their first successful clears open a required Ascension choice. F500 and F1000 create optional rites. An optional rite does not block the next floor, and declining its first prompt does not erase it. If both optional offers are waiting, accepting a rite consumes one offer and leaves the other for a later choice.

Ascension choices stack. Repeating a path is allowed. The return climb has stronger enemies, stronger soul income, and all retained permanent build layers.

Eclipse Goals

After F1000, milestone rewards are more than floor numbers:

  • Contracts add a temporary challenge to a specific floor and grant a payoff when cleared.
  • Contract Surges help the next stretch of the climb after a successful contract.
  • Descent Caches reward continued forward clears; Farm pauses the streak.
  • Oaths grant lasting account power and remain recognized after resets.
  • The first Oath at F1250 also satisfies the floor side of Deep Sign access.

These rewards are granted on the successful clear, including a qualifying offline clear, so the new power can affect later battles in the same offline return.

Heroes, Roles, And Affinities

Heroes are raised through combat, earned from milestone systems, or created by the Bone-Forge. The active team is the Host. A hero's affinity supplies team synergy; its role and row determine what it does with that power.

Team Roles

RoleStat shapeFormation job
VanguardHigh HP and DEF, lower ATKStand in front and keep the back row protected
StrikerHigh ATK, lighter defensesConvert weakness matches and buffs into damage
WardenStrong HP and DEFStabilize farming and protect longer fights
SeerFast, crit-oriented, fragileApply pressure or support before the enemy acts

Front-row allies take more direct pressure. Back-row allies take less while a front line remains. A Host without a Vanguard begins exposed, so pure damage teams need enough control or speed to justify that risk.

Affinity Synergies

Synergies activate at 3, 5, and 9 affinity points. Forge stars contribute more than one point, so a developed apex can anchor a mixed team.

Affinity3 points5 points9 points
Death10% lifesteal30% lifesteal60% lifesteal

Tribute Tiers strengthen an affinity's synergy multiplier. A Tier is most valuable when the Host regularly reaches that affinity's threshold.

The exact current-floor drop list in Battle and Farm is more precise than these broad bands because several heroes have overlapping enemy routes.

Forge Apexes

Affinity5-star apex

WaterThe Drowned Tsar
StormThunder-Eater, the Crowned Sky

Firebird is a special 5-star Acid reward after the second Ascension and another F200 crossing. Weekly boss Echo tracks can eventually raise Koschei, Veles, Baba Yaga, Firebird, and Zmey Gorynych after 100 matching boss Echoes. Boss doors themselves do not hand out ordinary farm-band heroes.

Build Principles

  • Use one durable front line unless a speed/control plan can win before it matters.
  • Match the weekly boss's affinity, role, and tags instead of assuming the highest raw power is always best.
  • A mono-affinity Host maximizes synergy; patron triads and lineages reward selected mixed teams.
  • Forge role choices change the hero's combat stat shape. Choose the role the final formation needs.
  • Keep at least two developed formations for late rotations: a damage plan and a survival plan solve different bosses.

Forge, Paragon, And Relics

These systems turn a raised roster into permanent power. Forge changes who the hero is; Paragon changes how the apex is built; relics let the necromancer and individual apexes answer a specific wall.

Bone-Forge Rules

A Forge rite requires:

  • One target hero at L10.
  • Two source heroes of the same affinity, also at L10.
  • Target and sources on the same Forge tier.
  • A role choice allowed for that affinity.

The source heroes are consumed. The target advances 0-star to 1-star, 1-star to 3-star, or 3-star to the affinity's 5-star apex. Fresh Echoes can replace fresh 0-star sources only; they cannot stand in for developed 1-star or 3-star sources.

Forge stars increase stats and affinity-point contribution. A 5-star apex contributes nine affinity points and can activate the top synergy tier by itself.

Forge Roles

The role selected during the rite changes the forged hero's stat shape:

RoleRelative emphasisBest use
VanguardHP and DEFFrontline doors and survival bosses
StrikerATK and some critDirect damage and weakness burst
WardenDEF and HPStable long farming and sustain
SeerSpeed and crit, lower defensesActing first, support, and boss burst

Storm does not offer Warden; Acid is the Firebird Warden line. Other current Forge affinities offer all four roles. Read the preview because the choice persists with the forged hero.

Paragon XP And Credits

Paragon begins when a hero reaches 5-star. That hero earns XP from eligible clears and milestone rewards. Each Paragon level after L1 grants one credit. A stat's next rank costs one more credit than its current rank, so early mixed investment is cheap and deep specialization costs more.

Sheet statEach purchased rank
STR / ATK+3.5% ATK
VIT / HP+4% HP
ARM / DEF+3.5% DEF
FATE / Crit+1 percentage point crit

The Paragon screen offers presets, but a preset only automates spending. It does not create extra credits. Vanguard recommendations favor a wall; Strikers favor ATK and crit; Wardens favor ATK and HP for stable loops; Seers favor crit and ATK.

Hero Sockets

A 5-star hero opens one personal relic socket every 50 Paragon levels:

  • L50 opens socket 1.
  • L100 opens socket 2.
  • L150 opens socket 3.
  • The pattern continues every 50 levels.

Fitted hero relics affect that hero. Necromancer relics in the Crypt-Vault affect the whole Host.

Crypt-Vault Slots

SlotMain stat
Skull RingATK
Ash RobesHP
Bone AmuletDEF
Ritual MaskCrit; its percentage is half the same-tier main-stat percentage

Relic tiers rise from Bone through Iron, Obsidian, Gold, Godstone, and Artifact. Normal relic drops begin at F100, improve with depth, and also come from bosses. Artifact pieces belong to named four-piece sets and use their own floor bands.

Artifact Sets

SetTwo piecesThree piecesFour pieces
Bone Choir+6% boss ATK+12% boss ATK+20% boss ATK
Drowned Court+6% DEF+12% DEF+12% DEF and +10% HP
First Thunder+4 crit points+8 crit points+12 crit points and +8% ATK

Artifact set pieces count when fitted across the active Host's hero sockets. Owning a piece in inventory does not activate its set threshold.

L100 Apex Reset

Every 100 Paragon levels earns another reset rank for that affinity. Confirming a reset:

  • Restarts current and deepest floor at F1.
  • Clears Farm lock.
  • Keeps the apex, Paragon level and XP, spent credits, sockets, fitted hero gear, roster, currencies, Signs, Pantheon progress, and other permanent systems.
  • Adds a permanent account-wide reward.

Reset rewards rotate by rank:

  1. +20% ATK.
  2. +18% HP.
  3. +16% DEF.
  4. +4 percentage points crit.

Later four-rank cycles repeat those stats at a higher scale. Always read the reset preview: it shows the exact retained state, the next permanent reward, and the floor restart before confirmation.

Awakening A 5-Star Hero

Hero Awakening is separate from awakening a Pantheon patron. A hero branch requires F2000 or any completed Eclipse Oath, a 5-star hero at Paragon L100, and one L100 reset for that affinity. The chosen branch is permanent and carries boss tags that can match different weekly weaknesses.

Signs And Deep Signs

Signs are learned patterns attached to heroes. Lesser Signs are permanent per-hero knowledge. Deep Signs are global mastery tracks that can be moved between eligible bearers.

Sign Weeks And Dust

Every fourth Pantheon week is a Sign Week. Successful clears pay Sign Dust based on depth, up to 12 Dust per ordinary clear. A Boss Hour triples the clear's Dust. Dust stays in the save after the week ends and can be spent later.

A lesser Sign costs:

RankSign DustTotal for one rank-3 pattern
1200200
2600800
31,5002,300

Buying a lesser rank teaches it permanently to that hero. Equipping a different learned lesser Sign is free and does not erase the old one.

Lesser Sign Library

Vigil+8% idle souls+14%+20%
Swift+1 speed+2+3
Ward+4% HP and DEF+7% each+10% each
Ember+3 crit points+5+8

Harvest and Vigil are account-output effects while selected on a hero; combat Signs change that bearer. A Deep Sign replaces the bearer's active lesser effect but does not erase learned lesser ranks.

Deep Sign Requirements

To carve a Deep Sign:

  • Reach F1250 or retain a completed Eclipse Oath.
  • Master at least one lesser Sign to rank 3.
  • Hold the required Black Marrow and Sign Dust.

To equip it, the bearer must be a matching-affinity 5-star hero at Paragon L100 or above. Each Deep Sign can have only one bearer at a time. Deep ranks are global: moving the pattern does not create a second copy and does not charge again.

The Four Deep Signs

PatternAffinityRank 1 / 2 / 3 effect
Hollow CrownDeathBearer kills add 4% / 6% / 8% of battle-entry ATK, up to five stacks each battle
WorldrootForestBank 40% / 60% / 80% of bearer overkill as healing, capped at 50% bearer max HP; share the one pool across living allies at the bearer's next action

First ThunderStormThe first damaging strike echoes once at 30% / 45% / 60% power without another resource cost

Worldroot does not resurrect. It consumes one shared bank and discards unused healing. First Thunder repeats one strike, including the first strike of a multi-target action; it does not repeat the entire action and cannot recursively trigger itself.

Deep Sign Costs

Rank 182,300
Rank 2125,000
Rank 32010,000

All four complete16069,200

The first rank requires eight Marrow payouts at one Marrow each, or three Kostomar kill payouts at three each, with one Marrow left over. Those are reward counts after all other requirements are met. They are not elapsed-time promises.

Choosing A Pattern

  • Hollow Crown rewards a carry that secures kills during long floor battles.
  • Worldroot converts burst overkill into team recovery and favors stable multi-enemy clears.
  • Black Sun protects a key Eclipse bearer from one lethal event and buys a return action.
  • First Thunder front-loads a Storm carry's first damaging strike for doors and boss damage.

Pantheon, Patrons, And Druzhina

The Pantheon is a long-term collection layer built around ten patron triads. Weekly World Boss play earns universal God Shards. Thirty shards awaken any unawakened patron you choose; the featured weekly patron is a spotlight, not a spending restriction.

Patron Triads

A patron bonus activates when all three sworn heroes are fielded. A matching 5-star apex may stand in for one missing same-affinity member, but one apex can proxy for only one patron at a time.

PatronSworn triadBase bonus to those members
PerunPerun's Boar, Zarya, Bone Knight+6% ATK

ChernobogChernobog Echo, Black-Sun Eidolon, Hollow Wraith+6% ATK
ZoryaAlkonost, Eclipse Marrow, Rusalka+6% max HP
LadaBolotnik, Khovanets, Last Grave+5% DEF

Some farmable heroes are unsworn. They still contribute roles, affinity synergies, lineages, and Forge material normally.

Awakening A Patron

Awakening costs 30 universal God Shards. It permanently doubles that patron's existing triad bonus while the triad is active. An awakened patron is an account bonus in the current game; it is not an extra hero added to the Host.

Shards remain in the wallet across weekly resets. You may save through several featured weeks and spend on the patron that fits your roster.

Weekly Personal Shards

The standard World Boss ladder has three thresholds:

Weekly pointsReward
2,5001 God Shard
25,0001 additional God Shard
40,0001 additional God Shard

Two optional personal Devotions can raise the weekly personal maximum from three to five:

  • Vigil: bank attempts in five distinct Boss Hour windows during the week for +1 shard.
  • Days of War: summon on five distinct UTC days during the week for +1 shard.

These are attendance accelerators, not exclusive items. Missing them slows shard income but does not delete banked shards or block a patron forever.

Druzhina War-Tithe

Development prototype — unavailable in the Windows alpha. The shipping Windows game uses local personal progression. Online warbands, guild claims, and group rewards require a separate service that has not been released. The following explains the prototype design, not a reward players can currently claim.

In that prototype, a Druzhina is a warband layer. A member must personally reach at least Tier 1 before receiving that week's accepted tithe. When a valid weekly result reports enough members who swept all three personal tiers, the one-time grant is:

Members who swept all tiersShards for each qualifying member
103
154
205

The accepted online result decides the reward. A displayed guild name or a local counter alone is not a reward receipt.

Warband Idol

Development prototype — unavailable in the Windows alpha. In the prototype, World Boss ladder points feed a Druzhina's Warband Idol while the player belongs to one. The local save records the player's share; online totals combine the group. Idol levels are designed as prestige and cosmetic progress, not combat power. The prototype's next level costs 2,000 × level Idol points. No public service or release date is promised.

What Resets Each Week

At Sunday 17:00 UTC, weekly boss points, tier claims, Vigil windows, Days of War, and the current weekly tithe state roll forward. Universal God Shards, awakened patrons, roster collection, Black Marrow, Sign Dust, learned Signs, and permanent build power stay.

Weekly Bosses And Kostomar

The World Boss is a week-long build test. One of five bosses remains active from Sunday 17:00 UTC until the next weekly reset. A reward-bearing standard summon recharges after five hours. Community defeat does not close personal participation for the rest of the week.

Practice First

Practice This Boss and Practice Kostomar run twelve repeatable trial battles with the current Host. Practice shows minimum, mean, and best damage plus reward estimates. It consumes no attempt, cooldown, or resource and grants no rewards.

Use Practice to compare formations, not to predict an exact live result. A live battle can differ after build changes or different battle rolls.

Five-Boss Rotation

BossSignatureInitial weaknessesLater stage openings
The Pale HorsemanDeath-Egg Omen: 15% one-shot revive chance at 15% HPDeath, Eclipse, Seer, execute/curseHearth and burst; then Water and Striker

Morana UnboundDeath-Egg OmenHearth, Forest, Vanguard, Warden, hardening/guardDeath and execute; then Storm and Seer
The Endless HandSiege FootfallsForest, Acid, Warden, Striker, poison/thornsWater and slow; then Eclipse and Seer

Breaking Pantheon ladder stages opens more weakness routes. World Boss HP is separate from the descent: ordinary floor scaling and Ascension enemy-HP increases do not raise it.

Points, Tribute, And Boss Hours

Damage becomes weekly Pantheon points in proportion to the boss's solo target. Boss Hours are the first hour of every four-hour UTC block:

  • Points are doubled.
  • Tribute is multiplied by 1.5.
  • Sign Week Dust from floor clears is tripled.

You do not need a Boss Hour to earn Tier 1. Boss Hours mainly accelerate higher tiers and the Vigil Devotion.

Tribute buys permanent affinity Tier upgrades and four global Boons: HP, ATK, DEF, and crit. Each Boon has five levels costing 50, 100, 200, 400, and 800 Tribute; each level adds 5% to its stat.

Boss Echoes

Each standard boss has a 100-Echo hero track:

Boss100-Echo reward
Pale HorsemanKoschei the Deathless
Echo of ChernobogVeles
Silent ChoirBaba Yaga
Morana UnboundFirebird
Endless HandZmey Gorynych

Kostomar, The All-Bone

Kostomar is available throughout the weekly period. The opening fifteen-minute rise is presentation flavor; the reward-bearing attempt does not disappear after that window.

  • One reward-bearing attempt is available each week.
  • At least 25% of Kostomar's HP earns 1 Black Marrow.
  • A kill earns 3 Black Marrow total and a guaranteed Godstone-tier relic.
  • Kostomar does not award Pantheon points or God Shards.
  • A missed eligible week can bank one base-participation makeup Marrow, capped at four; later standard-boss tier breaks pay these back one at a time. Kill-bonus Marrow is not made up.

Example Build Measurements

These measurements used one developed F1500 account with two fixed formations: Burst for Pale, Echo, and Choir; Fortress for Morana and Endless. The example held gear, patrons, Deep Signs, and roster power constant so the schedules could be compared directly.

Explicit scheduleMeasured ten-week resultTwelve reward-week projection
14 normal attempts, no Boss Hours2 shards every measured week; 20 total24 shards
21 attempts with 7 in Boss Hours3-5 shards per measured week; 42 total52 shards
Strong comparison Host, 21 + 75 shards every measured week; 50 total60 shards

All five ordinary 14-attempt minimums exceeded Tier 1 in the measured rotations. The developed Host dealt at least 33.79% of Kostomar's HP across twelve trial battles; the stronger comparison Host killed Kostomar in all twelve.

These are examples for those exact builds and schedules, not progression promises. Your results depend on when you reach F1500, which formations you develop, the attempts you choose to make, and how your live battles roll.

Offline Progress And Ascension

Bonecaller can make useful progress while closed. The offline simulator uses your saved team and build, resolves real battles in order, and stops at gates that need a player decision.

Offline Battle Cadence

  • One battle is simulated for every 30 seconds away.
  • A return shorter than 30 seconds has no battle to resolve.
  • Battle simulation is capped at 12 hours per return.
  • Battles use the team, roles, relics, Signs, Paragon power, affinity bonuses, Ascensions, Contracts, and Oaths that were active when the save was made.
  • Rewards earned during the simulation can help later battles in the same return. This includes floor-goal Caches, Contracts, Oaths, and their Paragon XP.

The receipt shown on return is the authority for that session. It reports wins, losses, floors, Souls, raises or Echoes, Sign Dust, Paragon XP, level gains, socket unlocks, and milestone rewards when applicable.

Where Offline Progress Stops

Offline progression stops before decision-heavy boss floors at F30, F100, F200, F300, F500, and F1000. Enter those battles while present.

It also stops after a loss. The simulator does not turn a losing team into free repeated rewards, and it does not claim rewards for a floor it failed to clear.

When Farm is locked, offline battles repeat that floor. They can earn normal repeat rewards, but they do not advance the descent, clear future milestones, or create challenge credit for floors that were not beaten.

Offline battles do not roll relic drops or Bone Shards. Those rewards remain attached to play while present.

Passive Souls

Passive Souls are separate from simulated battles. The base drip is 1 Soul per 150 seconds away, capped at 100 before the Vigil Sign bonus is applied. The result appears in the return receipt.

Ascension Rites

The first clear of F100, F200, and F300 presents a required rite. F500 and F1000 earn optional rites that can be deferred. Accepting one rite consumes one earned offer; if two optional offers are waiting, the other remains available for a later choice.

Deferring an optional rite does not force a reset. A deferred offer waits until you choose to perform it.

PathPermanent gift
Bone+30% Death damage
Forest+20% maximum HP
Tide+25% Speed and +50% curse duration
Storm+15 percentage points of critical chance and +25% critical damage
Hearth+30% Defense and a 30% heal on allied death

Each completed Ascension also strengthens the descent:

  • Enemy HP increases by 50%.
  • Enemy Attack increases by 30%.
  • Soul rewards increase by 50%.

That trade is permanent. Pick the path that repairs a weakness or commits to the team you intend to keep developing.

What Resets

An Ascension returns the current descent to F1 and starts the climb again under the harder enemy curve. The permanent gift and the account's lasting systems remain. The game keeps earned collection and long-term power rather than treating the rite as a fresh save.

The separate affinity L100 reset also returns current and deepest floor to F1, but it is a Paragon apex action. It preserves Paragon level, XP, credits, sockets, equipped gear, and other permanent account systems. See Forge, Paragon, and Relics for its reward cycle.

Counters And Safe Expectations

Weekly participation counters, Devotion days, and boss tier claims belong to their Sunday 17:00 UTC period. Offline floor battles do not count as active boss attempts, Boss Hour participation, or Kostomar results. Online Druzhina rewards are unavailable in the Windows alpha.

When a return receipt and the live floor disagree, trust the receipt's final-floor line and then save once from the main game. Before replacing or moving any save, close the game and back up its entire folder.

Spending Loops

  • Tribute affinity Tiers: the next level costs 25 + 10 × current level Tribute. Each level adds 1% to that affinity's synergy multiplier; L100 doubles the original synergy values.
  • Tribute Boons: HP, ATK, DEF, and crit each have five levels costing 50, 100, 200, 400, and 800 Tribute. Each level adds 5% to its stat.
  • Artifact craft: 4,000 Bone Shards crafts one Artifact-tier piece in the chosen relic slot. Dismantling unwanted relics returns Bone Shards based on tier.
  • Patron awakening: 30 universal God Shards permanently awakens one chosen patron.
  • Signs: lesser ranks spend Sign Dust; Deep ranks spend both Sign Dust and Black Marrow. Exact tables are in Signs and Deep Signs.
  • Paragon stats: each next stat rank costs one more credit than the current rank, making broad early investment cheaper than repeated specialization.

Unlocking a system is not the same as completing it. Most late systems also require the right hero stars, Paragon level, collection state, or currency.

Host And Formation

The Host is the active battle team. Formation slots unlock with floor progress. Front heroes take pressure before protected back heroes in ordinary targeting, so formation is part of the build rather than a cosmetic arrangement.

Team affinity points activate at 3, 5, and 9. A 5-star hero contributes nine points. Patron bonuses, Signs, roles, relics, and artifact sets stack onto the resulting combatants.

Descent, Farm, And Push Caches

  • Descend advances after a win.
  • Farm repeats a cleared floor and pauses forward milestones.
  • A loss ends the current push and clears the active push streak.
  • Clean forward wins build momentum and periodic Push Caches.
  • Boss doors and Ascension choices interrupt automatic progression so the player can respond.

Eclipse Ladder

From F1050 through F20000, the Eclipse ladder alternates repeatable waypoints:

  • Contracts every 50 floors rotate a declared battle condition and award Bone Shards plus Paragon XP.
  • Caches every 25 floors between contract steps provide more Bone Shards and Paragon XP.
  • Oaths every 250 floors are the larger permanent checkpoints and can carry stronger rewards.

Rewards are claimed once per successful floor reach. A reset keeps the account's claimed history; replaying a floor cannot duplicate its one-time goal reward.

Permanent And Weekly State

Permanent account state includes the roster, hero stars and roles, affinity apexes, Paragon progress, sockets, relic inventory and equipped gear, learned Signs, Deep Sign mastery, Ascension paths, L100 reset ranks, patron awakenings, God Shards, Black Marrow, and completed one-time goals.

The shared weekly heartbeat is Sunday at 17:00 UTC. It rolls personal weekly boss points and claims, Kostomar eligibility, Devotion windows, and Days of War. Permanent collection and currencies remain.

Standard weekly boss summons recharge after five hours. Boss Hour is the first hour of each four-hour UTC block. Sign Week occurs every fourth Pantheon week.

Reward Boundaries

  • Offline battles can award Souls, raises or Echoes, Sign Dust, Paragon XP, and reached floor-goal rewards.
  • Offline battles stop before F30, F100, F200, F300, F500, and F1000 boss decisions.
  • Offline battles do not roll relic drops or active-clear Bone Shards.
  • Practice weekly-boss battles do not submit rewards.
  • Kostomar has one reward attempt per weekly period and does not pay normal Pantheon points or God Shards.
  • A weekly boss score tier can be claimed once for that weekly period.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Bonecaller An Idle Game Or An Active Battler?

Both. Normal descent battles can auto-resolve and make offline progress, while boss doors, team changes, rites, Forge decisions, Sign assignments, Paragon spending, weekly bosses, and Kostomar reward being present.

Why Did Offline Progress Stop?

The usual reasons are a loss, a locked Farm floor, the 12-hour simulation cap, or an upcoming decision boss at F30, F100, F200, F300, F500, or F1000. The return receipt names the outcome.

Why Did Farm Stop My Descent?

Farm intentionally repeats the selected cleared floor. Unlock Farm to resume the descent. Repeated wins still pay their normal farm rewards, but they cannot claim later floor milestones.

Why Can I Not Raise A Hero With An Echo?

Echoes are Forge material. Raising a hero still needs Souls. Select a 0-star copy as a source in the Forge; a hero can bank up to three Echoes until that affinity reaches its apex.

What Does A 5-Star Hero Contribute?

A 5-star hero contributes nine affinity points, enough to activate that affinity's full 3/5/9 bonus alone. Stars also open Paragon progression.

Are Roles Separate Heroes?

No. A role is a Forge specialization on a hero: Vanguard, Striker, Warden, or Seer. It changes the hero's stat shape and can be reforged. Storm has no Warden profile, and Acid currently uses Warden only.

Do Ascensions Delete My Collection?

No. Ascension resets the active descent and increases enemy and Soul scaling. Its path gift and permanent account systems stay. Optional F500 and F1000 rites can be deferred.

Do Paragon Resets Delete Paragon Progress?

No. An affinity L100 reset preserves Paragon XP, level, credits, purchased stats, sockets, and equipped gear. It resets the floor climb and awards a permanent affinity stat from a four-step cycle.

Are Signs Consumed When I Move Them?

Lesser Sign ranks are permanent knowledge on that hero. Deep Sign ranks are permanent global mastery and can be reassigned to another eligible bearer. Moving a learned pattern does not repurchase its ranks.

Why Can I Not Equip A Deep Sign?

The bearer must match the pattern's affinity and be a 5-star hero at Paragon L100 or higher. Carving also requires F1250 or an Eclipse Oath, at least one lesser Sign at rank 3, Black Marrow, and Sign Dust.

No. God Shards are universal. Thirty can awaken any patron. The weekly spotlight provides context and collection direction rather than locking your choice.

Do Boss Hours Change The Boss Itself?

No. Boss Hour changes reward multipliers: weekly boss points are doubled, Tribute is multiplied by 1.5, and Sign Dust is tripled. It does not make the boss weaker.

Does Practice Spend A Weekly Attempt?

No. Practice is for testing formations and learning a signature. It does not award or submit the weekly result.

How Often Can I Summon A Weekly Boss?

Weekly summons have a five-hour cooldown, and the result resets Sunday at 17:00 UTC. Boss Hours are optional reward accelerators; the normal-attempt example in Weekly Bosses and Kostomar reaches Tier 1 without them on its measured F1500 build.

How Does Kostomar Pay Out?

Kostomar accepts one reward attempt per full week. Reaching 25% HP damage earns 1 Black Marrow. A kill earns 3 total and a guaranteed Godstone-tier relic. Kostomar does not award normal Pantheon points or God Shards.

Is Black Marrow A Dead-End Currency?

No. Black Marrow funds the four Deep Sign mastery tracks. Their rank costs are 8, 12, and 20 Marrow, alongside Sign Dust.

Does Bonecaller Sell Progress Or Random Pulls?

Bonecaller is designed as a paid, one-time game. Progress comes from play: there is no paid currency, paid random reward, or time-limited purchase in the game.

Where Is My Save?

On Windows, the save is %APPDATA%\Godot\app_userdata\Bonecaller\bonecaller_save.json. Its signing key, install.key, and rotating backups live in the same folder. Close the game and copy the entire folder before moving or replacing anything. Keep the save and signing key together; replacing only one can make the save unreadable.

Secrets, Lineages, And Boss Echoes

Spoilers: This page names hidden collection goals, late affinity apexes, lineage upgrades, and the rewards behind long boss hunts.

Affinity Apexes

Each core affinity has a collection apex. Reaching one changes more than a single hero: it marks mastery of that branch and removes the normal three-Echo bank cap for heroes of that affinity.

AffinityForge apex
DeathDeathbringer, the Hollow Crown
ForestWorldroot Colossus
WaterThe Drowned Tsar
StormThunder-Eater, the Crowned Sky
HearthCinder Matron, the Last Hearth
EclipseBlack-Sun Hierophant

Acid does not use the ordinary Forge apex map. Firebird is its special 5-star Warden reward after the second Ascension and a later F200 crossing. A separate weekly boss Echo track can also award Firebird.

Lineage Pursuits

Lineages turn related heroes into a collection project. The exact family and requirement are shown by the in-game lineage panel when discovered. They are permanent account goals rather than weekly claims, and their combat effects still obey normal target, death, and once-per-battle rules.

Some lineages create extra attacks, status pressure, protection, or recovery. These effects can trigger deaths outside an ordinary basic strike. Death prevention and boss signatures still resolve once; a lineage cannot duplicate a boss's one-time revival by causing damage through a different route.

Boss Echo Hunts

Defeating the same weekly boss 100 times unlocks its permanent Boss Echo path:

Weekly bossPermanent path
Pale StewardKoschei path
Drowned EchoVeles path
Hollow ChoirBaba Yaga path
Winter CrownFirebird path
Endless CourtZmey path

This is a long collection objective. Practice battles do not count as reward kills, and the five-hour summon cooldown still applies.

Deep Signs As Mastery Capstones

Deep Signs are not random drops. They are learned, account-wide patterns funded by Black Marrow and Sign Dust, then assigned to a qualified bearer. One rank costs 8 Marrow; completing one pattern costs 40; mastering all four costs 160.

Those totals count reward currency, not elapsed calendar time. Actual time also depends on reaching Kostomar, meeting the 25% or kill threshold, and qualifying a matching 5-star Paragon L100 bearer.

The Endless Descent

F1500 is a major build check, not a final ending. Contracts, Eclipse Oaths, Paragon apex cycles, Hero Awakening, patron collection, Deep Signs, Boss Echoes, and the repeating enemy curve extend beyond it. The goal becomes choosing which permanent branch to deepen, then using that power to reopen a wall.
